This cross brings together two very different pod phenotypes. Ethiopian Pepper Tree has low pungency, round, red upright pods. Lemon Drop is more pungent but still mild for a baccatum with a distinct citrus flavor. Lemon Drop pods are elongated and yellow when ripe. The plant pictured is the original F1 hybrid individual. It had an intermediate ‘duck bill’ pod shape and ripened through orange to brilliant red. The seeds are the second generation of this line.
